"The Waiting Room"
Over the weekend I photographed this sea bird who found refuge in a room with standing water at the ruins of Fort Dade. This particular bird did not appear to be startled nor bothered by my presence. It allowed to approach it and take a photograph from within a few feet. The bird did not necessarily seem concerned with fleeing nor did it care to acknowledge my presence with any particular head movements or precautionary stares. It would simply take a step or two, peck its beak into the water, and continue about its day. My only guess was that it was sick and needed a place out of the hot sun to wait it out. In the next room a similar bird had already met its fate and lay lifeless in a pool of water.
